EfficiencyIT achieves Planet Mark certification for eco-effort

Today

EfficiencyIT has secured Planet Mark certification, underscoring its dedication to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.

The UK-based company, known for its work in data centres and IT environments, has officially received certification from Planet Mark, an organisation recognised globally for its sustainability credentials. This certification marks a significant step in EfficiencyIT's commitment to providing environmentally responsible solutions in the data centre and IT sectors.

Planet Mark certification is a testament to EfficiencyIT's efforts to measure and curtail its carbon emissions while contributing to sustainable growth across the industry. The collaboration with Planet Mark underscores shared principles of sustainability, energy efficiency, and collective action against climate change.

The certification process involved a thorough calculation of EfficiencyIT's carbon footprint, determined to be 21.6 tCO2e, an equivalent of 1.5 tCO2e per employee. This figure serves as a benchmark for the company's future reduction goals as it progresses towards minimising energy use and shifting to entirely renewable energy sources.

EfficiencyIT's Managing Director, Nick Ewing, remarked, "Achieving Planet Mark certification is a proud moment for EfficiencyIT. It reinforces our unwavering dedication to sustainability and ensures we remain accountable to ambitious reduction goals. By partnering with Planet Mark, we are not only reducing our environmental impact but also helping our customers achieve their own sustainability ambitions by reducing Scope 3 emissions via their technology choices and supply chain partners."

The certification includes access to Planet Mark's toolkits and resources, which will help EfficiencyIT refine its sustainability strategies. Significant efforts involve adopting renewable energy through a REGO-backed clean renewable energy tariff, participating in the Planet Mark ZeroBy30 Programme, and aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

By joining the Planet Mark community, EfficiencyIT aligns itself with organisations worldwide aiming for net-zero carbon by 2030. This achievement not only boosts EfficiencyIT's environmental responsibilities but also offers increased value to its clients in the data centre, IT, and communication sectors, assisting them in meeting and surpassing their own sustainability targets.
