Dynisma lands Dallara simulator deal for Italy, US

Dynisma has been appointed Dallara's technical partner under a multi-simulator agreement covering two DMG-360XY motion simulator systems for sites in Italy and the United States.

The first simulator is due to be installed at Dallara's headquarters in Varano de' Melegari later this year, with the second planned for the company's Indianapolis engineering centre in early 2027. Dynisma described the deal as a multi-million contract centred on its driver-in-the-loop motion systems.

The arrangement links a British simulator specialist with one of motorsport's most established engineering groups. Dallara builds cars for several single-seater series and also supplies manufacturers competing in endurance racing.

Using the same simulator platform at two main engineering bases is intended to support consistency across engineering work, vehicle programmes and driver development.

Simulation tools have taken on a larger role in motorsport and automotive development as teams and manufacturers face tighter testing limits, cost controls and more complex programmes. As a result, companies have invested more heavily in virtual development environments used across design, validation and setup work.

The DMG-360XY is Dynisma's top motion system, combining low latency, response above 100 Hz, full yaw rotation and five metres of XY travel to produce sustained motion cues for drivers.

Founded in Bristol in 2017, Dynisma has built its business around full-motion driving simulators for motorsport and automotive customers. It says it serves teams and manufacturers across Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, the World Endurance Championship, IMSA and Formula E, as well as automotive groups.

Dallara has broadened its activities beyond its roots in Italian motorsport engineering. Alongside its role as a chassis supplier in categories including IndyCar, Indy NXT, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Super Formula, the company also works in automotive consulting, production services and aerospace.

For Dynisma, the agreement gives it a higher-profile role within a customer whose work spans race car design, engineering services and wider research activity. For Dallara, installing two matching simulators points to a push to standardise parts of its virtual development process across geographies.

Holloway said the relationship would extend beyond the initial equipment supply. "This partnership goes beyond the supply of hardware. It represents a long-term alignment around how simulation supports modern vehicle development, from early concept through to validation and driver integration. We are delighted to be working with Dallara at a group level."

Andrea Pontremoli, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Dallara, framed the investment as part of a broader engineering strategy: "High-fidelity simulation is a strategic asset for our group. Establishing identical, top-of-the-range motion platforms in Italy and the United States supports continuity across our engineering programmes and strengthens confidence in how virtual development informs real-world performance."

De Ponti said the Indianapolis installation would bring Dallara's US engineering operation onto the same simulator platform as the group's Italian base. "The planned deployment of a DMG-360XY system in Indianapolis brings our US engineering environment into alignment with capabilities at our headquarters. This will support a wide range of development, validation and collaborative activities across our programmes."

Dallara also signalled that the simulators would form part of a broader shift towards model-based development. Luca Bergianti, Director of Vehicle Dynamics and Performance at Dallara, said: "At Dallara, virtual development is becoming central to how we engineer our vehicles. The vehicle model now acts as the key integrator of all disciplines, allowing us to validate technical choices in a virtual environment before producing physical components.
