Ducati extends Siemens partnership to drive digital innovation

Thu, 9th Oct 2025

Siemens Digital Industries Software and Ducati Corse have extended their technical partnership for two more years, with the collaboration focusing on optimising research and development through the Siemens Xcelerator platform.

The renewed agreement will see Ducati continue to integrate Siemens Xcelerator into its operations, aiming to boost the performance, safety, and sustainability of its motorcycles. Ducati has credited the Siemens platform with enabling these advancements for both its racing and consumer products.

Partnership impact

Massimiliano Bertei, Chief Technology Officer at Ducati Motor Holding, described the importance of continuing the relationship, highlighting its role both at the racetrack and in the wider market.

"Our partnership with Siemens has not only helped us meet current challenges but has also positioned us perfectly to meet future challenges, both on the racetrack and in the global market. We are ready to continue winning, with innovation as our guiding principle, always together with a technological partner that allows us to remain competitive and at the top. In the world of racing, being able to modify your bike until the last second is crucial. For example, during race weekends, we can remotely design new components using Siemens' technology, which are then sent to the track and printed on a 3D printer."

This remote design and additive manufacturing capability has contributed to Ducati's agility during intense MotoGP events, where last-minute engineering changes can have significant effects on outcomes.

Digital transformation in racing

Franco Megali, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer for Italy, Israel and Greece at Siemens Digital Industries Software, emphasised how the partnership provides insights that accelerate business-wide innovation.

"Our collaboration with Ducati demonstrates how digital transformation helps a company excel in developing cutting-edge technology for the racetrack and then quickly apply those insights to its wider business. It's a perfect example of the power of Siemens Xcelerator, to empower multi-domain teams to collaborate and achieve innovation at an incredible pace across the entire enterprise."

The deployment of Siemens Xcelerator at Ducati covers several software tools, including Polarion for requirements management, NX for design, and Teamcenter for data and workflow integration. This suite supports cross-departmental collaboration by providing a single environment where design, engineering, and manufacturing processes are synchronised.

From racetrack to street

Ducati is also leveraging the Siemens platform to facilitate knowledge transfer between its racing and consumer motorcycle divisions. The Teamcenter software is central to this effort, linking the high-performance race development with the broader street bike business.

Pietro Mappa, CAD/PLM Manager at Ducati Motor Holding, explained the advantage of this unified digital ecosystem.

"Thanks to Siemens Xcelerator, we reduced development times with full sharing of data from the racing world to the street bike world. The mechanical, electronics and software teams, both in the street motorcycle and the racing worlds, have a single tool for collaboration and data sharing. There are no more departmental silos, and we have created a single integrated environment in which track engineers and vehicle design engineers can collaborate."

This approach has led to reductions in development time and improved coordination across different business areas, according to Ducati. Using simulation tools such as Simcenter and Testlab enables the company to virtually trial and test new components before physical validation, accelerating design cycles and optimising results.

Championship results and ongoing collaboration

The partnership continues against the backdrop of recent racing success for Ducati. The Ducati Lenovo team won the 2025 MotoGP championship, with Marc Márquez claiming the Riders' Title. The team also secured its sixth consecutive Constructors' Title and the Team Title for MotoGP 2025.

Ducati's recent MotoGP and WorldSBK achievements have underscored its ongoing investment in engineering, data analysis, and production technologies. In addition to its racing activity, Ducati uses Siemens technology for the development and manufacture of both road and electric motorcycles, as highlighted by its participation in the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup.

The collaboration with Siemens is set to support Ducati's ambitions in off-road racing as well, following its entry into the Italian Motocross Championship with the Desmo450 MX prototype.

Siemens Digital Industries Software, supported by its Xcelerator platform, provides digital transformation tools to organisations across various sectors, focusing on connecting design, engineering, and manufacturing for faster product and process innovation. The partnership with Ducati is positioned as an example of how such systems can deliver measurable improvements both on the racetrack and for commercial products.
