Datadog names Pejman Tabassomi as Field CTO for EMEA region

Tue, 3rd Jun 2025

Datadog has appointed Pejman Tabassomi as Field CTO for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, a newly created position designed to foster technical partnerships with strategic enterprise customers across the region.

The new role will focus initially on high-touch engagements in key markets, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Middle East. The aim is to provide ongoing consultancy and technical support, as well as build alignment between customers' business goals and the company's technical solutions.

Tabassomi is tasked with engaging executive stakeholders to deliver strategic technical guidance, support long-term platform decisions, and address complex observability and cloud challenges. He will work closely with Datadog's product and engineering teams to ensure customer requirements are addressed, as well as partner with the sales organisation to link technical priorities with business outcomes.

Having spent nearly seven years at Datadog, Tabassomi served previously as Principal Sales Engineer, the most senior technical role within the sales engineering organisation. His prior experience includes leadership roles at AppDynamics, BMC Software, and Quest Software, along with earlier experience at Bouygues Telecom. Tabassomi began his career in academia and research, focusing on applied mathematics and fluid mechanics.

"In my capacity as Field CTO, I can focus on being a long-term technical partner to our customers," said Tabassomi. "By engaging early and often, I will be in a position to help them make sense of complexity, make confident decisions, turn strategy into impact, and take full advantage of Datadog's platform and expertise."

Tabassomi's remit includes working alongside senior decision-makers and technical experts within client organisations from the outset and maintaining continuity throughout critical transformation phases. His role will act as a bridge between customers and Datadog's internal teams, ensuring that feedback and needs inform product development and technical direction.

"Pejman's deep technical expertise and years in the field give him a unique ability to understand complex enterprise needs," said Eugene Kovnatsky, Vice President of Product Solutions Architecture and Field CTO Teams at Datadog. "He'll be a key partner to our customers as they adopt, scale, and innovate with Datadog."

The company is experiencing rapid expansion across EMEA, which includes a rising demand from enterprise and public sector organisations. Datadog is responding by increasing its headcount and opening new offices to improve services for customers in the region.

The Field CTO position is targeted at providing consistent, strategic engagement at the executive level to help clients advance their cloud transformation strategies.

"We're seeing that consistent, trusted engagement at the executive level helps our customers move forward with clarity and confidence," added Tabassomi. "A key aspect of this new role is to provide customers with a direct line to Datadog, both strategically and technically, to help them make better decisions and innovate faster."

This new appointment reflects the company's ongoing investment in regional talent and customer engagement, with the intention to grow the Field CTO team further in response to client demand throughout EMEA.
