Civo unveils relaxAI, prioritising privacy & renewables

Wed, 19th Feb 2025

Civo has launched relaxAI, an AI assistant prioritising privacy and security, running exclusively on renewable energy sources.

relaxAI tackles data security and governance challenges associated with businesses using AI in cloud environments. Unlike AI services governed by the US CLOUD Act, relaxAI ensures that UK business data is retained within UK datacentres, adhering only to UK laws. This makes it particularly suitable for sectors such as healthcare, finance, and government, where stringent data privacy controls are essential.

One of relaxAI's defining features is its transparency in data handling, offering users control over their data. With no customer data being used for training without explicit consent, the system aims to prevent proprietary data from being inadvertently exposed or reused in subsequent interactions.

Built on the Llama model developed by Meta, relaxAI incorporates proprietary enhancements from Civo, setting benchmarks in accuracy and natural language processing capabilities. Its features extend to conversational dialogue, advanced reasoning, sentiment analysis, and code generation, making it a potential competitor to other AI solutions available today.

Josh Mesout, Chief Innovation Officer at Civo, stated: "Governance and compliance concerns are the number one reason we hear from customers hesitant to adopt AI workloads. relaxAI is our answer to this problem. It allows businesses to unlock the potential of large language models without compromising on security or compliance. With relaxAI, customers can focus on innovation, not legal hurdles."

The AI assistant is available from GBP £10 per month, presenting an economically viable option for businesses aiming to integrate AI without the burden of extensive costs. Upcoming editions of relaxAI are expected to offer businesses the option to deploy the AI within their own network infrastructures for enhanced control.

Josh Mesout further explained: "Control over data is a fundamental concern for businesses adopting AI. With relaxAI, organisations retain complete oversight of how their data is used, with the ability to grant or withdraw consent as needed. This commitment to transparency ensures that data is handled responsibly, empowering businesses to leverage AI with confidence."
