CDS Superstores and THG Fulfil have agreed a multi-year extension to their fulfilment partnership, covering The Range, wilko and Homebase.

The renewed deal continues an arrangement that began in 2024, under which THG Fulfil manages fulfilment and courier operations for the retail group's home, leisure and garden businesses.

CDS Superstores is using the extension to support a wider digital transformation programme across its brands, investing in online retail systems alongside its store estate. This includes using Google Cloud AI tools on wilko.com to improve search and product discovery, and Mirakl's platform to expand The Range's online marketplace.

THG Fulfil's role centres on warehouse fulfilment and courier management, providing CDS Superstores with additional operational headroom as online sales grow across its retail brands.

The arrangement spans three of the group's best-known chains, which are being positioned for further omnichannel growth. CDS Superstores also owns Bathstore, although that brand was not included in the renewed contract.

Automation focus

The operating model relies heavily on automation across THG Fulfil's warehouse network. According to the companies, 95% of units sold by CDS Superstores pass through some form of automation during fulfilment.

This includes Geekplus Goods-to-Person robots, which move stock within the warehouse. The system is designed to help process a broad mix of home and garden products for delivery to households across the UK.

The partnership offers a clearer view of how major retailers are relying on specialist fulfilment providers as they update eCommerce operations and handle a broader mix of products, channels and delivery demands. For CDS Superstores, the extension links its online expansion plans to an external logistics platform rather than building all that capacity in-house.

For THG, the deal provides continuity in a retail segment where delivery reliability and stock handling remain central to online performance. The company has been expanding its fulfilment and software operations as part of the broader THG Ingenuity business.

Retail strategy

CDS Superstores has been bringing together several established retail names under one group structure, with The Range, wilko, Homebase and Bathstore all part of the business. Its strategy combines physical stores with online investment, reflecting a wider pattern in UK retail as operators try to knit together store networks, marketplaces and direct eCommerce sites.

The latest extension suggests fulfilment will remain a critical part of that strategy as the business seeks to strengthen customer service across multiple brands. Managing different product types, from general merchandise to larger home and garden items, adds complexity to warehousing and last-mile delivery.

Tom Killeen, Chief Operating Officer, THG Ingenuity, said: "We believe fulfilment is the centre of customer excellence and brand reputation, and we look forward to continuing to offer CDS Superstores a best-in-class fulfilment service experience for their customers."

Ben Exall, Group Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, CDS Superstores, said: "Digital transformation is central to our growth plans for The Range, wilko and Homebase. We're investing in technology to make it easier for customers to find and shop our products online, alongside our expanding store network. Extending our partnership with THG Fulfil gives us the capacity and flexibility to support that growth, with reliable delivery that customers can depend on."
