Canon unveils ultra-compact desktop scanners for small spaces

Sat, 22nd Nov 2025

Canon UK & Ireland has introduced the DR-C350 and DR-C340, two A4 desktop document scanners aimed at enhancing productivity in space-limited environments such as retail counters, front offices, and home offices.

Space-friendly footprint

The DR-C350 and DR-C340 models have a compact width of 283mm, making them the narrowest scanners in Canon's current line-up. Their design accommodates use in constrained areas, fitting onto desks, reception counters, and kiosks without taking up excessive space.

Performance features

Both scanners offer high-speed scanning capabilities, with the DR-C350 reaching up to 50 pages per minute and the DR-C340 up to 40 pages per minute. Each is equipped with a 100-sheet automatic document feeder, which supports the rapid processing of large document batches. The models have upgraded input and output trays and an improved document feeding system able to handle different document types, including IDs and passports, without a carrier sheet. Advanced image processing tools such as Active Threshold, Fill Background, Colour Emphasis, and Document with Photo Mode are included to ensure accurate results and reduce the number of rescans required.

Sustainability focus

Canon has incorporated environmental considerations into the new models, which use more than 10% recycled plastics and include replaceable parts to minimise waste. Both devices consume 17% less energy than previous models and have achieved EPEAT Gold certification, helping organisations to address sustainability targets and comply with regulatory demands.

Operational convenience

An intuitive icon-based display and physical buttons are designed to make operation straightforward for users. USB Type-C connectivity supports compatibility with modern laptops and PCs, facilitating flexible and quick setup in diverse work environments.

Canon's CaptureOnTouch Pro software is bundled with the scanners, offering features for streamlined document processing and a variety of file delivery options. This includes integration with platforms such as SharePoint, network folders, and cloud applications. The software enables users to scan or import files and convert them quickly into several formats.

Sector applications

The scanners are targeted at sectors requiring frequent document scanning in customer-facing settings, such as banking, insurance, government, and retail. Staff can digitise identification and application documents directly in front of customers, supporting efficient onboarding processes. The scanners' ability to accommodate mixed document batches aims to reduce manual sorting and increase workflow speed.

"As working styles and office environments continue to evolve, businesses increasingly need reliable, sustainable and flexible solutions that fit into a wide variety of workspaces. Our new ultra-compact, versatile desktop scanners meet these demands, delivering a solution fit for any space and enabling users to scan a variety of documents with ease and at speed. The DR-C350 and DR-C340 will help businesses to boost productivity and efficiency, wherever their teams are working," said Khalid Aziz, Marketing Director, Digital Printing & Solutions, Canon UK & Ireland.
