Angola Cables partners Uniti Wholesale on US links

Angola Cables has signed a partnership agreement with Uniti Wholesale in the United States, linking its subsea network with Uniti's domestic fibre footprint.
The deal is intended to extend connectivity between the US, Latin America, Africa and Europe by combining Angola Cables' SACS, MONET and WACS cable systems with Uniti's terrestrial network across the US.
Under the arrangement, customers outside the US will gain access to Uniti's national network, which spans more than 300 metro markets and 386,000km of fibre route infrastructure. The partnership targets wholesale customers, enterprises, content providers and carriers that need international links into the US market.
It will support services including high-bandwidth wave connections, IP transit, local access, dark fibre and colocation, with additional network capacity available to meet demand from hyperscale customers and enterprise users.
The move gives Angola Cables a broader onshore route inside the US to complement its submarine systems across the Atlantic. For Uniti, it adds a new international link through Angola Cables and its TelCables subsidiaries in markets outside the US.
Ângelo Gama, chief executive of Angola Cables, said the arrangement would be relevant for businesses that need secure international data links, including companies in oil and gas, aviation, transport and logistics, and healthcare supply chains.
He said companies working offshore in Africa or South America could use the connection to move sensitive operational data back to the US. He also highlighted businesses involved in the development and supply of medical equipment and precision instruments for developing markets.
Network reach has become a more pressing issue for operators and large businesses as demand rises for cloud services, streaming traffic and artificial intelligence workloads. International providers are also seeking more direct routes between regional markets and the main US connectivity hubs.

Market access
Angola Cables already operates a subsea network of more than 33,000 kilometres through WACS, SACS and MONET, and says partner cables extend its reach to more than 50,000 kilometres. The company also runs data centres in Brazil and Angola and maintains points of presence across multiple international markets.
Uniti Wholesale focuses on dark fibre, wavelengths, ethernet and wireless access in the US and Canada. Its network serves communications providers, large corporate customers, federal government users and technology companies that require substantial bandwidth.
The agreement reflects a broader push by cable and fibre operators to combine subsea and terrestrial assets into a single commercial offer. That model allows carriers and large businesses to buy end-to-end routes from fewer suppliers, particularly for traffic crossing the Atlantic.
For Angola Cables, the US remains a strategic destination because many multinational clients need direct links into the world's largest cloud and content market. A domestic partner with a large metro and long-haul footprint can reduce dependence on third-party access providers at the final stage of a transatlantic route.
For Uniti, the partnership offers another source of international traffic from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Europe. It also creates an opportunity to serve customers needing connectivity between emerging markets and the US without piecing together separate regional contracts.
"We are excited to collaborate with Angola Cables and its TelCables subsidiaries operating in several key markets outside the US. Facilitating access to our extensive domestic fibre network will open new opportunities for seamless transatlantic services and support the growing bandwidth needs of our shared customers," said Greg Ortyl, executive vice president and president of strategic accounts at Uniti Wholesale.
Gama said the rise in cross-border digital activity was changing customer expectations of telecoms operators.
"Secure, multi-gigabyte international connections are now vital for enterprises expanding into foreign markets or connecting their international networks and operations," said Gama
"By integrating our international backbone with Uniti's unparalleled U.S. fibre network, we are empowering businesses in Africa and emerging markets with reliable, high-speed access to the world's largest economy," Gama added.
