Altan secures USD $2.5m for AI agents that build software from ideas
Altan has raised USD $2.5 million in pre-seed funding to support its artificial intelligence-driven software platform, which enables users to build and run autonomous software by describing their vision in text or voice.
The funding round was led by VentureFriends and JME Ventures, and included support from 4Founders Ventures and angel investors such as Carles Reina of ElevenLabs, as well as founders from Remotely, Doctoralia, Yaba, and vLex.
AI-driven software assembly
Altan's platform distinguishes itself by focusing on what it calls an "agent-native" approach. Unlike traditional no-code and low-code platforms, which generate software for human users, Altan assembles teams of AI agents - termed squads - to both construct and subsequently operate software products autonomously.
According to the company, users begin by entering their concept via voice or text. The platform then assigns specialist AI agents, including full-stack engineers, UX designers, and product managers, to collaboratively design and develop the software. Once completed, software built on Altan is designed for autonomous operation, allowing it to be run by agents rather than end-users.
Albert Sagueda, CEO and co-founder of Altan, said:
"Existing no-code and low-code solutions produce software for human users. At Altan, we're pioneering a completely new category of software: fully autonomous software designed to operate without human intervention. Our goal is to let you be the "idea" person, and let the agents do everything else."
User uptake
The company reports that over 25,000 users have already leveraged its platform while in beta. These users range from corporations and agencies aiming to accelerate the development and deployment of production-ready software, to individuals without coding experience seeking to turn new concepts into market-ready products.
One example highlighted was Julius Kopp, a self-identified non-technical founder who used the platform to establish a software venture now generating USD $10,000 per month. Kopp reflected, "I went from idea to $10k monthly recurring revenue in 60 days using Altan. No technical team, no months of development hell, just pure execution speed. This is how modern software businesses should be built."
Platform operation
Altan states its platform can handle a broad range of software development and operational tasks. Its AI squads are capable of end-to-end processes, from front-end and back-end engineering, integrating payment systems and designing customer workflows, to setting up and managing customer databases. Once the software is live, autonomous agents can be assigned to ongoing management and user interaction tasks, utilising interfaces such as voice, text, or video.
The company provided the example of a restaurant, for which Altan's agents could build a website, establish a customer database, design a reservation management system, and implement automated communication for booking confirmations and reminders, all without the need for human coding input.
Team and background
Altan was founded in 2024 by Albert Salgueda and Tristán Pou, both childhood friends. The current seven-person team includes previous founders, graduates of Cambridge and MIT, and former engineers from Meta. Their goal is to allow a wide demographic - including individuals, small businesses, and agencies - to create deployable software solutions regardless of technical background.
Investor perspectives
Lily Joo from VentureFriends commented, "Altan is delivering something the no-code movement hasn't previously achieved - production-ready applications that scale. It's been mind-blowing to see individuals, consultants and agencies using the platform to ship end-to-end solutions in days, not months. From our first demo, we knew this platform was set to unlock a new frontier in the market. The speed at which Altan is growing is testament to this and we're really excited to back them."
JME Ventures General Partner Samuel Gil stated, "What excites us is how quickly builders and businesses are adopting Altan. Agencies are building client apps, enterprises are automating internal processes, consultants are spinning up new offerings, and individuals are creating business from scratch. Crucially, these outputs all come with production-grade reliability. Altan is not a prototype tool; it's a platform which can create production-ready, 'turnkey' software. That's a wide open market segment with vast potential."
Carles Reina, first investor and Vice President of Revenue at ElevenLabs, added, "Merging multiple specialised agents to accomplish a task is the future of software development. This increases the quality of the output, reduces errors and enables more complex applications that were only possible with long development cycles. Altan has created a unique platform where anyone can develop fully-fledged products and launch them in minutes without coding experience".
