Akeneo has launched its Autumn Release 2026 and acquired Dataggo, expanding its use of AI agents in product data management.

The release adds Readiness Policies, Product Compatibility, Enterprise Access & Security Governance, new Supplier Data Manager functions and Ziggy for Shopify. The additions are aimed at large organisations managing product data across multiple systems, suppliers and sales channels.

Ziggy, the company's agentic orchestrator, now works with Shopify to help teams prepare and publish product data to online storefronts. Akeneo has also split its Shopify connector into Standard and Enterprise editions, with the higher tier aimed at organisations running multiple stores.

Another part of the update focuses on product modelling. AI-assisted Product Model Suggestions are designed to recommend product groupings automatically, helping teams build more consistent catalog structures.

Supplier data is another focus. Supplier Collaboration and Supplier Catalog Management within Supplier Data Manager are designed to turn supplier submissions into structured product data on a continuous basis, reducing manual handling.

Akeneo also updated PX Insights, which now automates analysis of how products are discovered and how prepared they are to be found by AI systems. Those signals are then fed back into the product data environment.

Control measures

A central theme of the release is governance over AI activity. Every new AI feature operates inside what Akeneo describes as an AI harness, designed to apply permissions, orchestration, traceability and human approval to automated work.

Ziggy works within the same role-based permissions as human users, records each action as a traceable change and proposes amendments for approval before they are applied. The aim is to keep AI actions within an organisation's existing system of record.

New Enterprise Access & Security Governance features include just-in-time provisioning and SCIM, intended to automate user identity management. Authorised staff can gain access through their corporate identity systems, while access for former employees can be removed immediately.

Akeneo has also added SIEM connectivity so product information management activity can feed into wider enterprise security operations. This is intended to provide clearer audit trails for compliance and monitoring.

Similar controls are being extended to supplier-facing processes. New Supplier Enterprise Security adds single sign-on and multi-factor authentication to Supplier Data Manager, while Transparent AI Labeling marks content generated by AI so teams and channels can distinguish it from material validated by people.

Readiness rules

Alongside access controls, Akeneo is introducing new governance tools for product quality and consistency. Readiness Policies allow companies to define what makes a product record ready for specific channels, markets or business objectives by combining rules on values, categories, descriptions and relationships.

The resulting readiness score is intended to help teams assess product portfolios and prioritise work. Akeneo positions this as a step beyond simple completeness checks.

Product Compatibility is another new feature in the release. It allows companies to define fitment rules linking products, spare parts and accessories, with compatibility data then made available through the product information management system and APIs to downstream systems.

Dataggo deal

Alongside the software update, Akeneo has acquired Dataggo, an AI-native specialist in PIM integration and services for enterprise customers. Dataggo has been a long-standing Akeneo partner.

The acquisition is intended to strengthen Akeneo's ability to deliver complex enterprise deployments and deepen its integration work across surrounding systems. It also adds services expertise at a time when software vendors are increasingly pairing automation tools with implementation support for large customers.

Romain Fouache, Chief Executive Officer at Akeneo, said: "After bringing agentic capabilities to Ziggy in our Summer Release, this release extends AI-powered automation and agentic workflows across Shopify, supplier data and product modeling. But as a leader in product data, we know doing more is not the whole job. When agents act on the product data that drives pricing, compliance and brand, they have to act under control. That is why every AI capability we ship runs inside a domain-specific AI harness, with the permissions, traceability and human approvals that let agents take on more of the work while teams stay at the helm of every decision."

The release also includes Private Showrooms in Akeneo Digital Showroom and changes to the company's event platform.
