Aiimi named official AI provider for UK public sector services
The Crown Commercial Service has named Aiimi, a British AI firm, as an official provider of artificial intelligence, aimed at driving efficiencies across the public sector.
This selection allows all public sector organisations to procure Aiimi's support and software through the AI framework (RM6200), under the Government's Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS), to develop and implement new AI solutions.
Aiimi's inclusion in this framework means public sector teams can leverage AI-driven tools to gain secure access to necessary information, retain control over their data, and improve overall organisational efficiency. The firm's technology and services are currently used by companies such as PwC, Anglian Water, and various FTSE 100 entities.
The framework aims to incorporate artificial intelligence models underpinned by strong ethical processes, aligning with the Government's broader vision for regulated and beneficial AI use in public services. This initiative follows the recent allocation of GBP £32 million of Government funding to AI projects focused on improving public services.
Contracts awarded through this framework may last up to four years and could see Aiimi deploying virtual assistants for public sector teams, creating AI tools to enhance access to healthcare and career development services, or developing artificial intelligence solutions to boost data security and reduce operational costs across the sector.
Additionally, Aiimi might implement its Insight Engine to produce valuable data insights for public sector teams, facilitating improved decision-making and the decommissioning of outdated systems. This process will involve unlocking data from legacy systems to allow the secure implementation of new AI solutions.
Aiimi brings more than 14 years of public sector experience to the table, having previously collaborated with various Government departments, including the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Financial Conduct Authority, Financial Reporting Council, Food Standards Agency, and the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Steve Salvin, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Aiimi, stated, "AI models that generate data insights have the power to help teams unlock efficiencies, improve decision-making, and boost innovation— all while increasing data security.
"Why limit these benefits to big, private corporations? Our 14 years of working closely alongside Government departments have shown how AI can have the greatest impact for the greatest number of people by improving the public sector, too," he said.
"We're excited to continue this work, and to widen access to the benefits of AI across the whole of the public sector as part of the Government's AI framework."
