Tata Consultancy opens three new European hubs for SDV growth
Tata Consultancy Services has announced the opening of three new hubs in Europe aimed at accelerating the automotive sector's adoption of Software-Defined Vehicles.
The company has established two Automotive Delivery Centres in Germany, specifically in Munich and Villingen-Schwenningen, and an Engineering Centre in Romania. This expansion is designed to assist automotive manufacturers in advancing next-generation vehicle capabilities such as autonomous driving, digital cockpits, and other connected technologies.
According to TCS, the delivery centres in Germany will focus on supporting original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with software-driven services encompassing autonomous systems, infotainment platforms, safety solutions, and connected vehicle infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Romanian engineering hub will concentrate on early-stage development and innovation, particularly the design and building of automotive software platforms.
These new centres form part of a longer-term strategy to enhance the company's automotive software offering across chip-to-cloud technologies and related engineering services, with the intention of strengthening its European presence and supporting global clients' needs in SDV innovation.
The location of the new hubs is intended to enable close collaboration with leading European automotive companies and multinational enterprises, offering so-called nearshore access for clients. At present, over 100 professionals are based at the new sites and will work in conjunction with more than 2,000 SDV engineers already part of TCS's global operations.
This international and diverse workforce is expected to facilitate the development of automotive platforms related to digital cockpits, infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance, and other critical functions. The teams will handle the complete product lifecycle, from concept and development through to production and post-launch support.
These new centres will position TCS at the forefront of automotive innovation, enabling us to deliver state-of-the-art solutions in autonomous driving and advanced cockpit systems. This expansion reaffirms our commitment to leading the transformation in the Software-Defined Vehicles space.
The increased demand for intelligent vehicle technologies globally underpins TCS's move. Industry transformation towards software-defined, connected, and autonomous vehicles has made Europe, with its established automotive sector, a strategically important location for TCS.
The company has served automotive customers in Europe for a quarter of a century and maintains a significant presence across the region's main automotive hubs. TCS's activities in digital engineering, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud technology, and data analytics have played a role in providing solutions in digital cockpit systems, electrification, autonomous vehicles, and connected car ecosystems. More recently, Generative AI has been incorporated to speed up feature generation and testing for SDVs, aiming to deliver faster innovation and greater personalisation in the vehicle development process.
The shift to software-defined vehicles marks a defining moment for the automotive industry. With the launch of these new centres, we are deepening our commitment to support OEMs in building the next generation of intelligent, connected, and sustainable vehicles. This expansion is a key milestone in our journey toward Future-Ready Mobility—where software, engineering, and design, backed by AI, converge to deliver safer, more personalised, and continuously enriching experiences for drivers and passengers.
The company believes that its strengthened presence in Europe not only enhances its role within the global automotive supply chain but also enables closer cooperation with clients. By leveraging local expertise, TCS aims to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction for European enterprises.
TCS employs over 15,000 people in Europe, reflecting its long-term commitment to the region, and operates from 62 offices across European markets. Its client base includes multinational companies across banking, financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, retail, travel, and logistics sectors, broadening its impact on transformation and operational change throughout various industries.
The company's recent EUR €30 billion in annual revenue highlights its global footprint, including a substantial workforce and multiple delivery centres worldwide, as it continues to partner with enterprises in adapting to ongoing technological evolution in the automotive sector and beyond.
