Synectics launches AI updates for Synergy surveillance

Mon, 21st Oct 2024

Synectics has unveiled a new set of AI-powered features and enhancements for its Synergy security and surveillance software.

The latest update, version 24.2, introduces Synergy DETECT, part of Synergy's AI Suite. It also includes upgrades to its mobile application capabilities, data and privacy protection measures, and integration with third-party systems.

The Synergy DETECT feature is designed to provide users with AI-based tools that accommodate surveillance across different camera types, including fixed, PTZ, and thermal cameras. Users can activate up to twelve tools tailored to specific security or operational needs, such as detecting safety hazards, unauthorised access to dangerous areas, adherence to safety protocols, and identifying factors like crowd formation or suspicious activities.

Dan Noble, Head of Product Strategy for Synergy, said, "The beauty of Synergy DETECT is that it puts the power of AI directly in the hands of our users in a way adaptable to their unique needs. Whether managing safety on an industrial site or crowd control in a public space environment, the AI tools allow you to tailor real-time detection and analysis to meet specific operational goals. It's not just about surveillance; it's about empowering teams to make quicker, smarter decisions when it matters most."

Significant improvements have also been made to the Synergy mobile app for Android devices. These upgrades allow users to maintain dedicated workflows directly from their phones, access live or recorded footage, and keep track of team members' tasks and locations in real time.

Noble said, "The ability to access live or recorded footage and follow workflows directly from a mobile device transforms how teams respond to potential threats. Imagine a security officer investigating an intruder – now, they can instantly access location maps, camera feeds, and updates from their phone. This speeds up response times and ensures real-time data informs every decision. It's a game-changer for coordination between field teams and control rooms."

In terms of data protection and compliance, Synectics has introduced a policy creation wizard that helps organisations establish clear protocols for using surveillance capabilities via web and mobile applications. These protocols ensure adherence to data protection regulations and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The update also features "critical exception authorisation" to allow key users temporary access to video privacy zones in emergency situations.

This release further streamlines the user experience with an improved 'Help' function, new 'time hop' options for quicker video review, and a PSN status dashboard to monitor system performance. The release now supports AXIS Event Streaming, enabling comprehensive event coverage from Axis cameras and Hanwha AI Analytics, providing immediate alarm notifications through Hanwha's AI analytics.

"The latest version of Synergy underscores Synectics' commitment to innovation in security and surveillance. Combining AI-driven risk detection, enhanced mobile access, and robust data protection tools, Synergy empowers organisations to improve security, boost efficiency, and maintain compliance – all while making faster, more informed decisions," concludes Noble.
