RAI Amsterdam chooses Cisco & Radware for enhanced network security
Tue, 19th Mar 2024

RAI Amsterdam, one of the Netherlands' largest event and exhibition centres, has opted for enhanced network security by selecting Cisco and Radware's technology solution. This move aims to upgrade security, flexibility and cost-effectiveness while safeguarding its annual 1.5 million visitors.

Cisco Secure Cloud DDoS Protection, developed by Radware, will address the robust network requirements of RAI Amsterdam's events, particularly those focused on IT, gaming, and financial services. The system boosts the security resilience of RAI by swiftly recognising and blocking harmful traffic. This ensures continuous network availability and optimise application performance during Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.

Notably, RAI Amsterdam hosts approximately 500 diverse events annually, attracting various subsections of the public sector. Given the vital network requirements of these events, the centre opted for the infusion of Cisco Secure Cloud DDoS Protection. This solution is designed to offer uninterrupted services and sustain resilience amidst potential DDoS attacks.

Bret Baas, Chief Information Officer at RAI Amsterdam, spoke highly of the partnership with Radware and Cisco. "We are continually investing in our IT environment so when our exhibitors and their customers walk through our doors, they're greeted with secure, cutting-edge digital experiences amongst the best globally," he stated. Baas thanked Radware and Cisco for providing them with “state-of-the-art cyber protection, deep technical expertise, and a flexible business model,” terming it a “seamless partnership”.

Cisco Secure DDoS Protection operates by promptly identifying and blocking harmful traffic via advanced behavioural algorithms and a worldwide network of cloud scrubbing centres. This comprehensive solution, a Radware innovation, not only neutralises DDoS attacks but also adds a layer of safeguard to the network. Additionally, it optimises application performance and enables uninterrupted availability during attacks.

Michel Schaalje, Cybersecurity Lead at Cisco Netherlands, pointed out the critical need to protect large event and exhibition centres in the current digital landscape. He said, "With Cisco Secure Cloud DDoS Protection, we provide robust cybersecurity measures that ensure resilience and availability, helping RAI Amsterdam maintain a secure network environment as they host a diverse range of events."

Yoav Gazelle, Radware's Chief Business Officer, observed an increased prevalence of cyberattacks targeting industry events. Emphasising the importance of security in such situations, he said, "Working in tandem with Cisco, we empower significant event organisations and exhibition centres like RAI Amsterdam to build secure, state-of-the-art IT environments that parallel high-end digital objectives, while making cyber protection easy to buy, deploy, and maintain."
