Northern Data & Gcore to launch AI platform collaboration

Yesterday

Northern Data Group and Gcore have announced a commercial partnership to provide a comprehensive AI platform, targeting both enterprise clients and AI model developers.

The collaboration introduces the Intelligence Delivery Network (IDN), a global architecture with 180 points of presence and over 200 Tbps of network capacity. This network is designed to enhance edge-based AI inferencing, particularly critical for latency-sensitive applications.

The IDN leverages Northern Data's infrastructure along with Gcore's Everywhere Inference software. Andre Reitenbach, CEO of Gcore, remarked, "Partnering with Northern Data will provide Gcore and our enterprise customers access to one of the largest liquid-cooled GPU clusters and significant data center capacity worldwide. This collaboration supports Gcore's mission to connect the world to AI anywhere and anytime with low latency, leveraging cutting-edge infrastructure to power the next generation of AI-driven applications."

Additionally, the partnership aims to capitalise on the burgeoning AI inferencing market, projected to reach USD $169 billion by 2032. It addresses key industry challenges such as deployment complexities and infrastructure constraints, including GPU shortages and data centre capacity limitations.

The new platform will allow seamless deployment through an on-demand service, broadening access to high-performance AI solutions and supporting both open-source and tailored models. Northern Data Group has further endorsed the partnership by taking two seats on the Board of Directors at Gcore and securing an option for potential acquisition following due diligence.

Gcore, established in 2014 and headquartered in Luxembourg, manages a vast global IT infrastructure across six continents. It serves a wide range of sectors, including telecommunications, financial services, media, gaming, and retail, boasting a substantial client base that features companies like Wargaming, Avast, and Sandbox Interactive.

Northern Data, known for its high-density, liquid-cooled GPU infrastructure, supports organisations at the forefront of technological and societal progress through AI and high-performance computing solutions.

Aroosh Thillainathan, Founder and CEO of Northern Data Group, commented: "We are combining Northern Data's heritage of HPC and Data Center infrastructure expertise, with Gcore's software innovation and engineering expertise, allowing us to accelerate our vision of delivering software-enabled AI infrastructure across a globally distributed compute network. This is an inflection point where the use of AI solutions is evolving rapidly, and we believe that this partnership will form a key part of the next phase of AI adoption."

Through this partnership, the two companies aim to deliver a robust, vertically integrated AI toolkit, featuring Managed Kubernetes and an AI model library, to help enterprises access AI solutions whilst ensuring security and optimised infrastructure use.
