Bitdefender, Scale Computing partner to enhance edge security

Today

Bitdefender and Scale Computing have entered into a strategic partnership to deliver advanced cybersecurity solutions for edge computing and private cloud infrastructure.

The collaboration introduces a new joint offering that combines the self-healing automation and virtualisation capabilities of Scale Computing Hypercore (SC//Hypercore) with the endpoint protection features of Bitdefender GravityZone. This integration aims to provide multilayered security for workloads, virtual desktops and data across diverse IT environments.

Jeff Ready, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Scale Computing, said the move addresses the growing need for comprehensive security across increasingly distributed and decentralised environments.

"As IT environments become increasingly distributed and decentralised, customers need simple yet powerful ways to secure workloads across their entire infrastructure. Bitdefender shares our vision of reducing complexity while increasing security and resiliency. Together, we're delivering a joint solution that protects critical applications and data – without adding operational overhead."

The joint solution integrates Bitdefender GravityZone directly with SC//Platform. This is achieved through either a lightweight, high-performance agent or a centralised scanning appliance. This integration is designed to offer unified threat prevention, detection and response capability for hundreds of virtual machines and endpoints.

The companies report the solution supports centralised management, simplified deployment processes, and ransomware resilience, while aiming to reduce the operational burden on IT teams and service providers.

Dan Russell, Senior Director of Channel for North America at Bitdefender Business Solutions Group, noted the security requirements specific to hybrid and edge computing deployments.

"The rise of hybrid and edge computing environments has created new security challenges – and organisations need scalable, high-performance solutions that don't get in the way of innovation. By partnering with Scale Computing, we're giving partners and customers a way to secure distributed infrastructure at the core and edge with enterprise-grade protection that's as seamless as it is powerful."

Key benefits of the partnership, according to both companies, include integrated protection for private cloud workloads, virtual desktops and distributed applications. Streamlined Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) security, threat detection, and real-time response are also identified as primary features, as is efficient deployment through the use of centralised scanning options from Bitdefender. The solution offers resilience and uptime through Scale Computing's self-healing infrastructure, and aims to reduce complexity and total cost of ownership for IT and security operations.

The companies highlight the suitability of the solution for organisations that operate across multiple sites, particularly those lacking on-site IT personnel, and those seeking unified infrastructure and cybersecurity in a scalable manner.

The combination of endpoint protection and self-healing virtual infrastructure is intended to address operational and security needs simultaneously, targeting sectors where distributed work environments or remote locations present logistical and security challenges.

By focusing on joint management and deployment, the offering is positioned to help IT departments minimise manual administration while maintaining protection against cyber threats such as ransomware.
