Attara appoints Hani Elmalky to drive technology in hedging

Today

Attara has named Hani Elmalky as its Chief Technical Advisor and a member of its Advisory Board.

The appointment forms part of the company's efforts to further integrate advanced technology into its commodity hedging platform. The platform serves a client base that includes UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and larger corporates in industries such as fuel, metals, and agriculture.

Hani Elmalky joins Attara with two decades of experience in technology, including roles focusing on artificial intelligence, software, networking, cloud infrastructure, and product engineering. Elmalky is currently Head of Product Architecture at Google, where he leads initiatives in the evolution of internet technology. His previous tenure includes nearly ten years at Ericsson, where he worked on early 5G architectural frameworks and played a role in large-scale network deployments. He is also an MBA graduate from The Wharton School, with specialisations in Finance, Business Analytics, and Entrepreneurship, and is an author of several technical publications and patents.

The company has stated that Elmalky's arrival marks a significant juncture as it advances the development of its proprietary technology. This includes the Attara Client Portal, which provides clients with a user-friendly interface to monitor market trends, access to in-house traders, and features such as the Scenario Calculator. This tool allows business users to model various hedging strategies and assess their possible outcomes.

"We're thrilled to welcome Hani Elmalky to the Attara team. Hani and I met during our MBA at Wharton; being on the same learning team proved the perfect sandbox for our collaboration at Attara. His rare blend of technical depth, product intuition and leadership experience makes him uniquely suited to this role at a pivotal moment in our growth. I'm personally excited to partner with Hani as we drive the adoption of Attara's solutions, helping customers tackle market volatility with confidence. His track record and experience will accelerate our innovation agenda and deepen the impact we can have on our customers," Richard de Meo, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Attara, said.

"Attara is building something that has never been done before. By integrating advanced technology with financial instruments traditionally out of reach for SMEs, Attara is putting power back into the hands of businesses seeking stability in an uncertain world. Market volatility is inevitable, but our solutions provide businesses with the certainty they need to protect their bottom line. Our first-mover advantage in creating a technology-driven risk management solution aligns with our vision of making hedging accessible, transparent, and effective for all," Hani Elmalky said, addressing his appointment.

Attara has indicated that Elmalky's contributions are intended to guide the company's technology team as they refine their commodity risk management tools. The company aims to merge updated technology with financial market expertise to offer a more predictable and stable approach to risk management for clients navigating commodity market fluctuations.
