Apricorn unveils new Thunderbolt 4 docking station for hybrid work

Tue, 1st Apr 2025

Apricorn has announced the release of the Aegis Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station, intended to enhance connectivity and efficiency for those in adaptable working environments.

The docking station has been developed to power multiple peripheral devices simultaneously while offering high-speed data transfer through its integrated Thunderbolt ports. Apricorn aims to provide a reliable solution as a response to the increasing prevalence of hybrid and remote work environments. According to recent research, 41% of UK workers perform their duties remotely at least part of the week, with a growing preference for hybrid models. Amid this shift, 85% of remote UK employees express a desire for hybrid work setups.

To address these trends, the Aegis Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station comes equipped with 11 connectivity ports, including three high-speed Thunderbolt 4 ports capable of 40Gbps. This range of options allows users to connect and power an array of devices, with capabilities to extend a single display into multiple screens, thereby enhancing productivity through reduced data transfer wait times and minimised downtime.

The docking station is compatible with devices running Windows 10 or later and MacOS 11 or later, supporting Thunderbolt 3, 4, USB-C, and USB-4 connections through a single Thunderbolt 4 cable. The device's compact design aims to allow professionals to streamline their workspaces and adjust as necessary to their current needs.

"The need for secure, high-speed, and adaptable workstation solutions is greater than ever as enterprises adjust to a more flexible, decentralised workforce," stated Jon Fielding, Managing Director, EMEA, Apricorn. "Apricorn's Aegis Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station offers users a versatile, high-speed solution that expands the user's connectivity options and working practice in a small footprint."

Apricorn maintains that the docking station complements its range of hardware-encrypted storage solutions, widely used in sectors like finance, healthcare, and government that demand rigorous data security. The docking station features enhanced security with two Kensington Security slots designed to prevent unauthorised device removal or theft. In conjunction with Apricorn's secure drives, users can apply strict data control protocols irrespective of their work location.

The Aegis Thunderbolt 4 Docking Station is currently available for purchase at a price of GBP £180.00.
