CommScope launches global SYSTIMAX platform for scalable networks

Wed, 8th Oct 2025

CommScope has unveiled the global availability of its evolved SYSTIMAX Constellation platform, a solution designed for edge-based power and connectivity in enterprise settings.

The SYSTIMAX Constellation platform aims to address the needs of organisations facing demands for scalable, high-speed networks within densely populated and hyperconnected workplaces. The system is now compliant with virtually all global standards for power and data transmission, incorporating fault-managed power, hybrid power/data fibre, and Constellation Points (CPs) in a star topology. This architecture allows for connection of hundreds or thousands of devices and systems within a network.

Star topology and centralisation

Unlike traditional structured cabling networks, the evolved platform uses a simplified star layout that is designed to be modular and adaptable across different technologies. The system supports both AC and DC power applications, as well as a range of IT and operational technology network standards. By removing the need for separate telecom rooms or wiring closets on every floor, the platform permits centralisation of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) equipment. Furthermore, Constellation Points can now be located in ceilings, walls, or equipment racks, allowing for installation with fewer components and enabling the accommodation of converged or segmented networks.

The platform offers extended service distances from equipment rooms while delivering network speeds of up to 10Gbps and above, alongside the transmission of fault-managed power up to 1kW. According to CommScope, the system is capable of powering and connecting a large number of devices, particularly in increasingly dense urban environments.

Resource savings

CommScope reports that the refined design translates into measurable resource and time efficiencies compared to conventional approaches. The evolved Constellation platform is said to reduce skilled labour by up to 57%, copper usage by as much as 59%, and plastic consumption by as much as 65%.

"The Constellation platform enables our customers to support much denser urban centres and a proliferation of connected devices in their buildings. By offering a modular, technology-agnostic solution, we're giving our global customers more choices for building connectivity and power to the network edge- and helping them do it in a way that's cost-effective, scalable and sustainable," said Luc Adriaenssens, VP, Building & Campus, CCS, CommScope.

The environmental impact of connectivity infrastructure is also addressed, with the company indicating that the platform can reduce the overall network carbon footprint by up to 40%.

Technical features

The Constellation platform comprises Propel fibre panels, power transmitters, and power transition panels, with connectivity to Constellation Points using hybrid power/data fibre trunks. Devices are ultimately linked via pre-terminated SYSTIMAX Cat 6A patch cords and cable assemblies.

Performance metrics provided by CommScope include support for up to 1,800W of power over distances of up to 250 metres, 1,000W over 500 metres, and 700W over 1,000 metres. The system allows for up to 50 devices per Constellation Point. The use of singlemode fibre enables bandwidth of 10G and potentially higher. CommScope highlights that the platform eliminates the need for repetitive telecom room builds in multi-floor environments, contributing to savings in space and resources.

The platform is intended to facilitate incremental deployment, meaning that enterprises can expand their networks in stages, as needed, without large up-front investment or disruption. The company states that this approach minimises overall cost, required space, skilled labour hours, and implementation time for enterprises constructing new networks or upgrading existing infrastructure.

The enhanced SYSTIMAX Constellation platform is now available for customers worldwide.
